Location

The Central Academy of Forest Education (CAFE) is located in the of Mt. Kanchanjungha (the world's third highest peak) at the backdrop of the campus makes the Institute building more beautiful. The vibrant city of Kurseong of West Bengal state, Darjeeling district has been the cradle of forestry education and training in India.

CAFE has the privilege of being in the neighbourhood of other premier institutions like West Bengal Forest School, Dowhill of Government of West Bengal which enhance the learning environment for the Officer Trainees with increased opportunities for interaction with serving IFS officers.

The building which houses the Academy is historic, with a unique status of being the prototype and a forerunner for the CAFE building. Constructed from slim bricks and lime mortar, it is a fine example of British architecture and is about hundred years old.

How to Reach

By Air

Bagdogra airport is located 55 km away from the city centre. Air India, Jet Airways, Indigo and Spice Jet have regular flights to Bagdogra. You can hire a taxi from the airport to reach the city Kurseong, which should take you 1.30 to 2 hours depending upon traffic on the hilly area.

By Railway

Kurseong is connected by regular train services from New Jalpaiguri(NJP) railway station to cities like Delhi, Lucknow, Allahabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ujjain, Chennai and Varanasi. The New Jalpaiguri Railway Station is located 50 kilometres away from the Kurseong city centre and should take you only 1.30 to 2 hours, depending on traffic. New Jalpaiguri is connected to the rest of the country by trains such as the Shatabdi Express, Jan Shatabdi Express, Rajdhani Express, Vande Bharat express among others.

By Road

Kurseong is well connected to Siliguri by bus of NBSTC, govt. of west Bengal operated and by small vehicle viz tata sumo, maruti van etc.. Buses depart from here every 30 minutes to one hour. Other bus terminals in Siliguri is Tenjing Norget Bus Terminal, located at the Siliguri Junction which has regular bus services to Kurseong/Darjeeling and other nearby cities.

Road/Self Drive

A popular tourist destination, Kurseong has a strong road network, which makes for a pleasant driving experience. Kurseong is well connected by road to cities like Siliguri/Kolkata by the NH 55 is approximately a 2- 12hour drive. Darjeeling is located at 32 kilometres and is almost a 2 hours' drive. Kurseong is also well connected to state like Sikkim, countries like Nepal and Bhutan
